FFA Greenhouse

FFA members are busy gearing up the greenhouse for the spring plant sale to be held the last Saturday in April. Students have learned asexual propagation methods to root and start Wandering Jew and Sweedish Ivy hanging baskets. We are also growing various plants for educational purposes to train an Agronomy team and Nursery team. We will be receiving some plant plugs through Joplin Greenhouse on Jan. 24th, these plugs include Impatients, Geraniums, and Wave Petunias that will be used to make more hanging baskets. Students will also direct seed some vegetables and flowering plants about the 3rd week of March to be sold as bedding plants.

Miller FFA Alumni Contest March 10th

The Miller FFA in conjunction with our Alumni will be hosting the first ever Miller FFA Alumni contest on March 10th 2012, at Miller High School. This event will bring around fifteen hundred students to our school on that day from across Missouri. The Alumni could use lots of help from our community in putting on the event, you can help conduct a contest or help with concessions. The Alumni organization has a work night/meeting planned for February 16th to work on getting stuff ready for the contest all are welcome to come and help!

FFA News

FFA members and advisors are busy completing State FFA degrees and proficiency awards. These awards and degrees recognize students for excelling in their FFA projects. FFA members have projects they keep records on that range from a job to raising livestock.

Here is an interesting fact

Miller FFA members FFA projects contributed over $90,000 to the economy in 2011 from livestock sales/purchases and wages/wage deductions. Some economist say that money will change hands 7 times in a community if that the case that equals $630,000! Our FFA members are helping with economic recovery!

The Miller FFA Mission Statement:

Make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education.
