For the second straight season the Miller Boys Basketball are the SRVC Conference Champions!! With one game to go on Tuesday at Jasper, Coach Stokes team clinched the out right championship on Friday with a 5 point win at Pierce City. The Cardinals are now 14-9 overall and an impressive 8-0 in the SRVC. The Cardinals have also received the #1 seed in Class 2 District 10 to be played at Sarcoxie starting March 2. The Miller Boys will start the tournament at 4pm on Tuesday March 2.
The Cardinals have four starters returning from a team that went to the final four a year ago and trying to get back to Columbia again this year. Returning starters are Justin Jack, Derek Jack, Zach Eaton, and Tyler Hinshaw. The starting five is rounded out with returning letterman Rhen Garner who has recently provided a scoring punch. Coming off the bench for Coach Stokes are Wil Harrington, Dallas Bloomer, Riley Jack, Jordan Moots, Fred Sattler, Stewart Panell, and Derrick Estell.
The Miller Girls are 7-0 in the SRVC Conference at the moment and an impressive 20-4 overall on the season. The Lady Cards won the Walnut Grove Holiday Tournament and have finished second in their other two. A win on Monday @ Jasper would give the Lady Cards at least a share of the conference title. Two wins this week will make them the out right champion. Liberal and Pierce City just have one loss each in the conference at this point. The Lady Cardinals have received the #2 seed at next weeks District Tournament in Sarcoxie. The girls will play on Monday March 1 at 8:30pm.
The Lady Cardinals team members are Kayla Gammil, Brooke Hill, Kaitlin Johnson, Hannah Wilkerson, Nicole Adams, Haley Logan, Jessica McAdams, Betsey Epps, Anna Smith, Jessica Cook, Taylor Reynolds, Emily Allen, and Jenae Atwell. The Lady Cardinals are coached by Brandon Weiss.
