Leadership Class Teams Up with United Way
by Dr. Terry Robinson
December 19, 2009
Miss Winans and her Leadership class joined forces with The
United Way in the "Hands on for Seniors program" on December 16,
2009. Miss Winans and her class traveled to Springfield, Missouri
to be a part of the program. The United Way works with the Area
Agency on Aging to find those senior citizens who may need extra
help around the house – cleaning, mowing, painting, etc. Just doing
those things that they are not able to do any longer. The
Leadership class was touched by the wonderful woman they assisted.
The elderly woman was not physically able to keep up with normal
household chores by herself. The Miller Leadership Class cleaned
her house for her. The class reported they felt a strong sense of
service and recognition for helping the elderly in their own
families.
