Winter Break Approaching
by Dr. Terry Robinson
December 02, 2009
This is an important time for parents to re-emphasize the importance of turning assignments in on time and for their child to be attentive and in school. Attendance counts! -- and a review of attendance records indicates many parents still need to verify student absences or these absences could affect the awarding of credit. Parents can send a note with their child or call the school with verification of their child's absence. As the semester ends, high schoolers will earn credit toward graduation with passing grades in their classes. Junior high students earn credit toward advancing to the next grade level. The semester will end at the junior high and high school on December 22 - school will dismiss at 1 pm on December 22. Grade cards will be mailed on January 7th, 2010 to junior high and high school students. The teacher leadership team will approve the finals schedule at the junior high and high school and tentatively it will be during the last three days of the semester: December 20, 21 and 22. Check this article for an update next week to see which periods will test on what days. Finals will be staggered over three days to allow students sufficient time to study between tests. The last day of classes for first semester is December 22. There will be NO SCHOOL from December 23 to January 3.
