SUPER Cardinal STUDENTS Soar at Enviro-Thon!

Miller High School sent its first Enviro-thon Team to Springfield, MO last week with teacher-consultants Jay Shepherd, Lyle Whittaker and Dan Barrett. This was Miller's first outing in the well attended event that tested environmental knowledge. Student team members were Austin Steele, Cheyenne Gulick, Micha Wood, Brandon McNutt, Emily Whitmarsh. the Miller team faced much  larger and more experienced teams, but managed a FIRST PLACE WIN out of nearly 30 teams!!! Final point tallies follow: 1st Miller FFA 404.3 pts, 2nd Houston HS 398.3 pts, 3rd Licking HS 392 pts, 4th Alt. To state Kickapoo. 

The Missouri Enviro-thon Program consists of 7 regions across the state with each regional holding a competition either in the Fall or early Spring. The top three teams from each of these regional competitions advance to the state competition, the Missouri Enviro-thon. The state competition is held in the central part of the state in mid-April.. 

The winning Missouri Envirothon team will represent Missouri at the Canon Enviro-thon, the largest North American natural resource competition. The Canon Enviro-thon is held in varying locations across the United States and Canada with teams from Canadian Provinces and Territories as well as the majority of the United States. Canon USA, the major corporate sponsor of the Canon Envirothon provides funding in excess of $100,000 scholarships to the winning teams at the Canon Envirothon each year.The top three teams to advance to the Missouri Envirothon on April 13th 2010.
