The Cards defeated Thayer in double overtime!

CARDS Skin the CATS and Capture Sectional Title!

by Dr. Terry Robinson

November 11, 2009

The Cardinals skinned the Thayer Bobcats 35 to 34 in a double-overtime THRILLER at Thayer. In a keen tactical coaching move, the Cardinals allowed the Bobcats to score late in the game with Thayer leading 21 to 20. This made the score 20 to 28 with Thayer leading by 8. This allowed the Cardinals another chance to score with about 2 minutes remaining in the game. The Cards capitalized on the possession and scored with under 30 seconds remaining then tied the game after a  2-point conversion. This effort sent the game to overtime, then a second overtime in which the Cards scored a TD and a field goal and the Bobcats scored only a TD and missed their field goal. The final score was 34 to 35 Cards! The game was won through exemplary coaching and a determined, focused team effort. Congratulations to the CARDS and their coaching staff for beating a tough, worthy opponent to clinch the sectional championship.

Now the CARDS will play host to the next playoff game AT HOME on Saturday November 14, at 1:30 PM! The game will be against Valle (pronounced "Valley") Catholic out of St. Genevieve (a Catholic private school). The game starts at 1:30 pm, the entry fee is $6.00 for all children K-12 and ALL Adults. The FFA will host a tailgate party with a boxed bar-b-q hamburgers, brats, and fries at the field.
