The Miller R-2 School District will seek district accreditation through AdvancED, an internationally recognized mark of distinction on October 18. AdvancED is the world’s largest education community, representing 27,000 public and private schools and districts across the United States and in 65 countries worldwide and educating 15 million students. As a globally recognized stamp of approval, this accreditation is MORE THAN the required state standards . Some answers to frequently asked questions about seeking this accreditation are included below:
Why is Miller R-2 seeking this accreditation? We believe our students and teachers deserve the BEST school possible. Our district teachers and administrators believe the process of accreditation will help us continuously improve our services to the Miller community. If the district receives accreditation, we earn a globally recognized mark of quality. Additionally, our access to scholarships and higher education for students is improved. Credits earned by students here will also transfer easily to any school world-wide. AdvancED is a world-wide accreditation. Finally, accreditation will give our district access to more professional development and technical assistance to continuously improve our school.
How is accreditation earned? A trained evaluation team from outside our district will visit the schools to interview teachers, administrators, students and community members about our school system. They will also review district processes and achievement in all areas through observations of teachers and review of district documents or artifacts. The accreditation process is more than just a look at test scores, it is a thorough review of our entire district and the services we provide to the community. The Miller R-2 School District has opened its doors for increased scrutiny, with the primary purpose being to serve our students and community better every year. The district will seek this distinctive mark of quality to highlight our strengths and our areas to improve. If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please contact Dr. Anthony Rossetti or Dr. Terry Robinson.
