High-Tech! Promethean SMART BOARDS added to JHS, HS and Elementary

The elementary school and high school social studies classes have new high tech additions as part of regular and after-school course offerings. Promethean SMART boards, utilizing the latest in touch screen, web access, video and student response system technology will enhance the delivery of course content to students and student engagement. How does it change the classroom? By having a Promethean SMART board in the classroom as opposed to a marker board or a chalk board, all students can respond simultaneously to questions posted on the board via a device that resembles a cell phone. They can choose a multiple-choice answer or enter a short answer with the key pad. The technology then allows an immediate look at the student responses. The teacher immediately knows how many students in the class understand a particular concept. Student results can be displayed as percentages and/or bar graphs. In addition, the board is connected to the world-wide web and thousands of lesson plans created by teachers nation-wide specifically for use with the board. Also, the board allows for video and other short-clips to be easily incorporated into the lesson in a visually stimulating and engaging way. Three boards were installed in the Junior high and high school social studies classrooms and two were designated for the elementary school.
