The Miller Varsity Cheerleaders attended a National Cheerleaders Association sponsored camp July 7th-July 9th at Parkview High School in Springfield. Nine schools were in attendance some of them bringing three squads each. Miller was the smallest squad at the camp bringing six of the seven varsity squad members. Miller was awarded the “NCA Spirit Award”, which is voted on by all the squads attending camp and given to the squad that not only has excellent skills, but shows good sportsmanship, and encouragement to other squads. This was the first Miller squad to receive this award. The girls were also awarded a spirit stick. In addition, Miller Varsity Cheerleading Senior Captain Bailey Carpenter was one of eight selected as an All-American squad member of the 35 girls that were nominated & tried-out at NCA camp. Bailey was also given the “NCA individual leadership award”. This award is presented to the individual that shows dedication, sportsmanship, diplomacy and leadership throughout camp. This was the only individual award presented at camp among the 180 cheerleaders in attendance. Bailey is the first Miller cheerleader to receive this award. All-American cheerleaders and awards are chosen by the NCA cheerleader squad and staff. As a recipient of this award, Bailey will be traveling to Disney World in Orlando, Florida in December to take part in the Disney Christmas Extravaganza which will air on Christmas Day. Bailey is the daughter of Terry & Heather Moenkhoff and Tim & Kim Carpenter. Great job to all Miller Cheerleaders and good luck with your season!
