Scheduling for 2009-10 School Year

High School Students will Test New 7 period day Schedule

May 20, 2009

Please provide any feedback concerning our schdule by going to the web address below: ARTICLE FROM MAY 20 BELOW: As the 2008-09 school year ends, the new 2009-10 school year is being planned district-wide. In order to meet the needs of our students and operate efficiently, teachers and administrators have worked to create the best draft schedule possible. The high school will use a more traditional 7 period day for the 2009-10 school year. This is necessary to share teachers with the elementary and to ensure teachers can work with students more efficiently. The high school schedule will be tested by our high school students through a process called arena scheduling. In this process, students will create a draft schedule with a teacher on May 22 in the morning. Then all students will go to the gym. Tables will be set up on the gym floor and course teachers will sit at these tables with sign up lists for specific courses for students. Seniors will sign up first with course teachers followed by juniors, sophomores and finally freshmen. Arena scheduling is a test of our 7 period draft schedule. After all students have finished, administrators, teachers and the counselor will be able to address any scheduling problems that may arise with students. Problems such as imbalances in class sizes or inavailability of courses students need become more apparent by using the arena scheduling process. We probably won't have a perfect schedule after arena scheduling is finished, but we will have time to address any problem areas prior to the new school year beginning. If you have any questions or concerns about high school scheduling, please call Dr. Terry Robinson - Principal or Ms. Vicki Baker - Counselor at the high school.
