Dear Parents and Guardians,
The time for your son or daughter to participate in graduation ceremonies is quickly approaching. On January 15, 2009 the school board approved a new policy regarding participation in the graduation ceremony for students. I met with seniors in attendance today, gave them copies of the policy and answered their questions regarding the policy. I have reprinted it below my letter for your information. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to me at the school.
I’m looking forward to congratulating your son or daughter on their accomplishments. I have listed information you will need to prepare for your attendance at graduation and support your son or daughter with other events.
►Prom is April 24, 2009 on the Branson Belle. Reservations and a fee of $10.00 for tickets is due by
February 6. This reservation fee will not be refunded in case of cancellation.
►Seniors last day of school: May 15, 2009
►Graduation is on May 17, 2009 at 6 p.m. at the High School Gym
►Project Graduation is still in the planning stages and more information will come to you soon.
NEW BOARD POLICY passed on 1/15/09
Senior Requirements for Graduation Ceremonies
Graduation ceremonies are a celebration of the culmination of a student’s progress through their high school academic program of studies. In order to receive the honor and recognition for these studies, students must maintain good attendance to participate in the privilege of graduation ceremonies.
Seniors are eligible to attend the graduation ceremony if they have:
1. Maintained at least 95% attendance
2. Completed all credits necessary for graduation
3. Acted as a good citizen with no serious disciplinary incidents involving drugs, alcohol or persistent and on- going disruption to school
4. Settled all accounts due with the school office
The above policy will be in effect for 2nd semester 2009 and will remain in force until rescinded or revised by the Miller School Board. Absences occurring during 1st semester 2008 will not be counted toward the attendance requirement in the above policy, they will be counted from 1/16/09 through 5/15/09.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please direct them to me.
It has been a great joy to serve the educational needs of your son or daughter.
Sincerely,
Terry Robinson
Principal Miller 7-12
